Class Level Descriptions

Open Role Beginner Track

You should take this track IF YOU:

  • Want your Balboa journey to include the unique super power to lead and follow and...

  • Learn how to dance between your roles by switching and sharing ideas fluidly and musically with your partner regardless of your dance role. 

  • Are looking to learn in an everybody leads everybody follows style and be introduced all the basics you need to get out on the social dance floor to dance Balboa and Bal-Swing all night long!

Learner Track

You should take this track IF YOU:

  • You have taken at least one Balboa workshop or class.

  • You’re familiar with the up hold basic, come around, lolli kicks, and probably a toss out.

  • You want to refine your transitions and start working on new vocabulary and concepts!

Improver Track

You should take this track IF YOU:

  • have taken more than one balboa class series or workshop

  • remember all of the basic moves including downhold and uphold basic, lollies, out-and-ins, and throwouts (or tossouts)

  • are ready to learn some new combos and styling!

Advancer Track

You should take this track IF YOU:

  • know how to do it and can execute a bunch of material in balboa and some variations

  • have taken Level 3-5 Balboa classes and/or attended 1-5 balboa workshops

  • are comfortable dancing Balboa and are ready to learn some more

  • want to refine some technique, because who doesn’t need technique

  • want to get more fancy material under your belt because you are ready to rock this

  • want a challenge

Perfector Track

You should take this track if YOU ARE:

  • a very advanced dancer and are ready to give back to this community that you love

  • ready to help other dancers of all levels work on their Balboa in a practice session

  • know this material enough to teach a beginner or intermediate level class

  • super stoked to dance in the Advanced/Novice comp with Beginner & Intermediate level dancers and make them look like a million dollars

  • an avid social dancer, teacher, community builder and leader

  • not looking for material, but ideas and more theoretical things about this dance we love

  • ask yourself: How can you help others this weekend?
